SMIIC Secretary General and his accompanying delegation attended the BIMP-EAGA International Halal Congress: An Academe Perspective with the theme “Integrating HEIs in the Halal Value Chain” held on 01-03 March 2016 in Davao City, Philippines.

During his comprehensive presentation on Global Halal Market, Mr. İhsan ÖVÜT gave detailed information regarding the drivers and actors of this fast emerging market by summarizing how it has evolved over the last decade. SMIIC’s role in the halal industry as the authorized standardization institute to serve the best interests of Ummah was explained and Mr. Övüt stated the willingness of SMIIC to cooperate with all stakeholders to achieve common objectives.

During the second day, a corporate presentation on SMIIC and OIC/SMIIC standards was delivered by SMIIC delegation by elaborating the future areas for research and development.
