SMIIC conducted the OIC/SMIIC 1:2019 Islamic Affairs Expert, foundation training, based on OIC SMIIC 1:2019 General Requirements for Halal Food, virtually from 17-18 October 2023.

The training was attended by 38 participants from (Australia, Belgium, China, India, Italia, Malaysia, New Zealand, Japan, South Korea, Turkey, and Taiwan)
This training was the fourth course in a series held by the SMIIC General Secretariat in 2023 for private sectors.

The training program included:
- Introduction about SMIIC and Its Activities
- Food Safety & Quality Control A Shariah Perspective
- Clauses of SMIIC 1 in Sharia respective
- Role of Islamic Affairs Expert in Halal Conformity Assessment System
- Evaluation Test
