The Secretary General of SMIIC, Mr. Ihsan Ovut and his accompanying delegation paid a courtesy visit to the D-8 Secretary General, Ambassador Dato’ Ku Jaafar Ku Shaari on 30 March 2018 at the Headquarter of the D-8 Secretariat.

During the visit many issues were discussed. These included the current and future activities of the two institutions, possible areas of collaboration and the possibility of strengthening institutional links between the two organizations by signing an MOU.

Developing-8 Organization for Economic Cooperation, is an organization for development cooperation amongst Bangladesh, Egypt, Indonesia, Iran, Malaysia, Nigeria, Pakistan and Turkey.

The aim of D-8 Organization for Economic Cooperation are to improve member states’ position in the global economy, diversify and create new opportunities in trade relations, enhance participation in decision-making at international level, and improve standards of living.
