Four new standards has been published

SMIIC Member States have put tremendous efforts and their expertise in the SMIIC Technical Committee on Standards for Conformity Assessment (CCA) to prepare the four new standards "OIC/SMIIC 33:2020 Conformity Assessment – Example of a Certification Scheme for Halal Products", "OIC/SMIIC 34:2020 Conformity Assessment - General Requirements for Bodies Operating Certification of Persons Involved in the Halal Related Activities", "OIC/SMIIC 35:2020 Conformity Assessment - General Requirements for the Competence of Laboratories Performing Halal Testing" and "OIC/SMIIC 36: 2020 Conformity Assessment - General Requirements of Proficiency Testing for Halal Purposes" that aims to clarify certification and testing services for Halal products are valid and in accordance with the Islamic rules.

Conformity Assessment – Example of a Certification Scheme for Halal Products


This standard describes the fundamentals of halal product certification and provides guidelines for understanding, developing, operating or maintaining certification schemes for halal products, processes and services. This standard provides an example of a type 5 product certification scheme for halal products as described in ISO/IEC 17067 based on Islamic rules.
